• What is included in my Zero Car Rental booking?

  All rentals come with full insurance (zero excess), unlimited mileage, roadside assistance, and no security deposit required. 

• Can I pick up my rental car at Keflavík Airport (KEF)?

  Yes! All Zero Car Rental vehicles are available for pickup via a keybox system at KEF Airport. This means no waiting in line—simply collect your keys and start your Iceland adventure hassle-free.

• Can I pick up my rental car in Reykjavik?

  Yes! Our Reykjavik City office is very centrally located at Fiskislóð 22. Fairly easy to reach on foot for those with accommodation in downtown Reykjavik. Blue Car rental is the provider of your rental car. The office has a Zero Car sign as well as the Blue Express sign. Please enter our delivery office to find our keybox and pick up your car with your keycode.

• Do you offer keybox pickups?

  Yes! We offer this service at Keflavik International airport KEF and at our Reykjavik Downtown Office. You will get instructions via email on how to use the keyboxes if you choose to do so.

• Do I need a 4x4 to drive in Iceland?

  A 4x4 is only required for driving on F-roads (highland roads) and while mandatory, we recommend to rent one during winter if you plan to explore areas with challenging road conditions. If you're staying on main roads a standard 2WD car will be sufficient.

• Can I drive on F-roads with my rental car?

  Only certain 4x4 models in our fleet are allowed on F-roads. Check the specific car description to see if your rental is suitable for highland driving. Note that driving on F-roads with a non-approved vehicle may violate the rental agreement.

• Do I need to buy extra insurance?

  No. Unlike many car rental companies, Zero Car Rental includes full insurance with zero excess in all bookings. This means no hidden fees and no unexpected charges when you return your car

• What type of fuel do rental cars use in Iceland?

  Most small and medium-sized rental cars run on unleaded petrol, while some larger SUVs and 4x4s use diesel. The fuel type will be indicated on the rental agreement and on, or inside the fuel door in the car.

• What is the best car for winter driving in Iceland?

  For winter driving, we recommend renting a 4x4 SUV for extra stability and traction. All our vehicles come with winter tires during the colder months, but if you're exploring areas outside major routes, a 4x4 will offer better control in snow and ice.

• What should I do in case of a breakdown?

  All rentals include 24/7 roadside assistance. If you experience any issues, contact our support team, and we’ll assist you immediately on +354 7737070

• Can I modify or cancel my booking?

  Yes! We offer free cancellation and flexible booking options. You can choose to pay upfront for the best deal or pay later for added flexibility. Please go to Manage Booking at the top of the website to add or modify your reservation.

• Are there any hidden fees?

  No! With Zero Car Rental, the price you see is the price you pay. Our all-inclusive pricing means no hidden charges, no security deposit, and no surprise fees at the end of your trip

• Do rental cars come with winter tires?

  Yes! Between November 1st and April 14th, all Zero Car Rental vehicles come equipped with winter tires to ensure safe driving on Iceland’s icy and snowy roads. If weather conditions require it, we may install winter tires earlier or keep them longer to prioritize your safety.

• Do I need to leave a security deposit when renting a car?

  No! Unlike many car rental companies, Zero Car Rental does not require a security deposit. You can book your car and enjoy a stress-free rental experience without any financial hold.

• Is unlimited mileage included in all rentals?

  Yes! All Zero Car Rental vehicles come with unlimited mileage, so you can drive as much as you want without worrying about extra charges. Whether you're exploring the Ring Road, the Golden Circle, or remote areas, you won’t have to track your distance.

• What are the age and payment requirements to rent a car?

  To rent a car with Zero Car Rental, you must be at least 20 years old. You can book your rental using any major credit card—no deposit required.

• Do I get a fuel discount with my rental car?

  Yes! Every rental includes a free fuel discount key fob, which gives you savings on fuel at Olís and OB gas stations across Iceland. Simply use the key fob when refueling to get an instant discount.
